Many employers are recognizing the need to provide child care in the work place, benefiting both the employee and the company. With more women working to support housholds and the need for dependable child care, this could be a win-win situation for both.

Employer supported child care is a win-win situation. The biggest down side to it for employeer is the regulation piece of the child care side of it. Child care requires a minimum number of square feet per child, handicap requirements for toilets and walk way corridors, and requires a certain number of child care workers per X number of children. It is a lovely idea, but unless the employeer has access to a large amount of space to locate the child care facility, the cost to rent such space usually outways the income produced. It would be wonderful if in the future more new buildings were built with the idea of a child care facility going in hand=in-hand with the businesses which would later occupy it.
This is something that more employers should be looking at. By doing this you can retain your best employees and help reduce their stress of worrying about their children. MEEI offers "Parents in a Pinch" where if you need someone in a "pinch" they will come to your home. For the month of July they are offering child care for half price for $7.50 per hour which is a great deal.
I was at an appt with someone @ Merrill Lynch and she said that she was picking up her kids just after work - they provided daycare services just across the parking lot. So many companies are beginning to see how necessary this is.
I hope they decide to do this around the time that I have children! Great article!
My husband and I do not have children yet but when we do child care will be huge. So I am happy to hear companies are valuing and recognizing the need to support families in this way.
Much needed child care on-site for employees--this would decrease employee sick days if they were able to have an on-site child care. we have a referral called Parents-in-a-Pinch but many employees feel uncomfortable having strangers in their home and would rather bring their kiddos on-site
